Weather Related Events and Natural Conditions
Effective Date: January 1, 2023
This Weather Related Events and Natural Conditions Policy explains how we will assist with rebooking a reservation and how we handle credits when Weather Related Events or Natural Conditions disrupt your sailing plans.
Canadian Coastal Sailing prioritizes the safety of our guests, crew and vessels and aims to exceed expectations whenever possible. Accordingly, we work hard to deliver an exceptional customer experience, acknowledging that we operate in a natural environment where weather and naturally occuring events are variables beyond our control.
Weather Related Events
We monitor forecast models and meterological trends, and may make adjustments to sailing schedules, rebook guests and provide credits when Weather Related Events may pose concerns for the safety or comfort of guests.
The term "Weather Related Events" refers to, but is not limited to, the following common types of situations:
Forecasts of more than 5mm of rain per hour
Lightening warnings
Extreme wind conditions
Natural Conditions
Sailing, by its nature, is a collaboration between the crew, vessel and natual environment. The same features that contribute to the exceptional sailing conditions and stunning scenery that define our remarkable sailing experience can cause rare occurances that may affect safety and comfort.
The term "Natural Conditions" refers to, but is not limited to, the following common types of situations:
High river flows
Navigation hazzards
Levels of tidal waters
Geological events
What happens if a Weather Related Event or Natural Condition disrupts our upcoming sail?
We recognize that unexpected changes can be disapointing and will do our best to reduce disruption to your plans.
When concerns are short-lived, such as an isolated weather system, sailings can often be rescheduled within the same day pending availability of vessels and crew. If we are unable to reschedule the sailing, we will try our best to rebook you at no additional cost, even if the new sailing is a higher rate. When rebooking is not possible, we will provide you with a credit to be used on a future sailing.
What happens if we need to return early due to a Weather Related Event or Natural Condition?
Although infrequent, there may be situations where rapid changes in environmental conditions require a sailing to be interrupted for the comfort of guests or the safety of guests, crew and vessel.
If a sailing ends early due to Weather Related Events or Natural Conditions, you will receive a pro-rated credit to be used on a future sailing.
Extenuating circumstances
We recognize that even the best policies cannot predict every situation and scenario. Common sense, fair play, and respect stand behind every decision, so let us know if you have concerns regarding your specific situation and we promise to work towards finding a solution that is reasonable and fair.
